That First Drop of Blood

According to a study published in Diabetes Care, the first drop of blood obtained from a finger prick is best when testing blood sugar (providing you wash hands first). If in a bind and not able to wash hands, wipe first drop away with tissue and use the second for better accuracy.

Dirt, grease, and moisture affects accuracy by giving you a low reading. Always wash and dry first, or go with the second drop.
