If you have limited funds to cover co-pays…

1. ask the medical supply company if they have financial aid grants. Most supply companies have financial grants, however, they don’t offer the information unless you ask. My pump, pump supplies and glucose testing supplies are covered for three years. In 2015 I’ll have to renew the financial grant.

2. attend support groups on your illness. I’ve received free strips, books, meters, pump supplies from patients that switched to another brand.

3. read the free Health Monitor Magazine that’s on the table in the doctor’s office. They always list grants for patients unable to afford medication. Visit Health Monitor’s website and search for your condition. My cousin with MS son receives a full four-year scholarship as long as he maintains an outstanding GPA. This is his third year studying Engineering at an Ivy League University. After he composed a 5000 word essay about coping with his mother’s diagnosis since age eight and never missing school, serving as class president, glee club…he was covered.
